Prunella modularis (Dunnock)
The dunnock (Prunella modularis) is a small, shy bird that is often mistaken for a sparrow, but it belongs to a different family. It has a grey head and breast, a brown streaked back and a thin, pointed bill. It eats insects and, in winter, small seeds, and usually creeps along the ground.
