The common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) is one of the commonest finches in Europe. The male has a blue-grey cap, a pinkish breast and two white wing bars; the female is a duller olive-brown with the same wing bars. It picks seeds from the ground and feeds insects to its chicks.
